Ở - To be located

Ở means to be located in Vietnamese.

Although not always can be translated exactly into "to be located", it is often used to describe where someone or something is located. To use it, all you have to do is put it before a preposition.

Note: You can highlight the Vietnamese text to listen to it. Mẹ đang ở trong siêu thị. (Mom is inside the supermarket.) Ba ở trên nóc nhà. (Dad is on the roof.) Cái ghế ở dưới cái bàn. (The chair is under the table.) Mình ở xung quanh cái nhà hàng đó. (I live around that restaurant.) Trái cam ở bên cạnh trái chuối. (The orange is next to the banana.) Tôi đang ở ngoài. (I am outside.)

If ở is used by itself, it often means at, which translates to tại in Vietnamese. Tại is often omitted but is used sometimes to emphasize. Let's look at some examples.
